Transfers‘Had a flash with Leeds’ – striker tipped for summer Elland Road exit

Leeds United are set to be very active this summer as they prepare for another season in the Premier League. The club’s intentions for next season are becoming increasingly clear.

Chief Executive Paraag Marathe has confirmed that Leeds will do everything possible to strengthen the squad. However, he also emphasized that their approach will be measured due to financial regulations, which could lead to several significant departures from the first team.

Players likely to be sold include many of those who joined during last summer’s transfer window. Names such as Max Wober, Isaac Schmidt, Joe Gelhardt, Largie Ramazani, and Mateo Joseph could all be on the move depending on how the off-season unfolds.

Hull City have secured promotion to the Premier League and will compete alongside Leeds next season. A key figure in their Championship playoff success was Leeds loanee Joe Gelhardt. The forward had an outstanding campaign, helping the Tigers clinch their place in England’s top flight.

Reports have increasingly suggested Hull are keen on signing Gelhardt permanently following their promotion.

Former Hull City player Jacob Hunt recently encouraged the club to pursue the Leeds forward aggressively.

“Joe Gelhardt is a very, very talented player,” Hunt said on the 1904 Club podcast. “I think he’s ready for the Premier League. He never really had a full chance at Leeds, though he had glimpses of it. He can be highly effective. You look at someone like Jarrod Bowen, a left-footed right-winger who’s scoring consistently in the Premier League. You could easily play three across the front in a 3-4-3 or similar formation, with two holding midfielders behind them, and it gives you real attacking potential.”

Gelhardt has shown his promise ever since joining Hull on loan in January last year. His performances were so impressive that the Tigers brought him back for another season, and he did not disappoint – finishing with 15 goals and five assists across all competitions.

Looking ahead, it appears he is not part of Daniel Farke’s long-term plans at Leeds, which could pave the way for Hull to secure his services. Leeds could also earn a significant fee from the transfer, especially given Hull’s reported £200 million windfall from their playoff success.
