Leeds United secure major boost as star agrees to long-term stay

Reports surfaced this week regarding several contract situations at Leeds United. As the club prepares for the summer, a number of key figures are approaching the final stages of their current agreements.

Among them is manager Daniel Farke, who is expected to hold discussions with the 49ers over a contract extension. Talks were initially planned for the middle of the season but were postponed until the summer.

Farke successfully guided the Whites to Premier League survival in their first season back in the top flight, and he is not the only important figure whose future is under consideration. Several influential members of the squad are also due for new deals.

Goalkeeper Karl Darlow is set to see his current contract expire later this month, and following a solid campaign, Leeds could move to reward him with an extension.

Meanwhile, Pascal Struijk has entered the final year of his contract at Elland Road. The defender attracted interest from other clubs last year and has reportedly gained even more admirers after his impressive performances this season.

Ethan Ampadu signs new Leeds United contract

Ethan Ampadu also enjoyed an excellent Premier League campaign for Leeds United. The club captain has established himself as a leader since arriving at Elland Road and has continued to prove his value at every level.

After excelling in the Championship, Ampadu has demonstrated that he can perform just as effectively in the Premier League. His displays this season have reportedly attracted attention from several clubs, but the latest update will come as welcome news for Leeds supporters.

According to Beren Cross of The Athletic, Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe has confirmed that Ampadu has signed a new contract that will keep him at Elland Road until 2030.

The decision underlines Leeds United’s ambition and strongly suggests the club views Ampadu as a central figure in its long-term plans rather than a player available for sale.

However, there is still more business to complete before next season begins.

The 49ers would be wise to hand Daniel Farke a new deal after the outstanding job he has done over the past year. Such a move would also send a clear message that the club intends to support him in the transfer market.

As for Karl Darlow, offering him a contract extension appears to be the most sensible option. Leeds could find themselves with only one senior goalkeeper under contract this summer, making Darlow’s retention an important priority.

Pascal Struijk has also shown his importance to the first team and deserves a new agreement that reflects his status within the squad.
