The latest Coventry City transfer news as the Sky Blues are credited with an interest in Bournemouth’s Daniel Jebbison
Coventry City are one of several clubs ‘keen’ on Bournemouth’s Daniel Jebbison.
That’s according TEAMtalk who say the Sky Blues have ‘made checks’ on the 22-year-old’s situation at the Cherries and that they hold a ‘firm interest’.
But according to the report they aren’t the only ones, with fellow promoted clubs Ipswich Town and Hull City also claimed to be interested in a player who spent last season on loan with Preston North End.
Championship clubs Burnley, Middlesbrough, Birmingham, Norwich and Blackburn have also been credited with an interest and are claimed to have indicated that to Bournemouth.
However, the story says Bournemouth aren’t yet ready to sell the Canada international permanently and would rather loan him out to a Championship club where he will play and do so towards the top end of the division.
After moving to the UK as a 13-year-old Jebbison came through at Sheffield United for whom he made 35 first team appearances before moving to the Vitality Stadium for a training fee.
In his first season on the south coast, after spending the first half with Watford he was recalled and played 16 Premier League games, all off the bench and scored once.
Last summer he was loaned to Preston where he scored six in 38 league games, including 22 starts, one came in December as ten-man North End salvaged a 1-1 draw with the Sky Blues.
CoventryLive says
Jebbison has long been recognised as a striker of real potential, evidenced by the fact he has played 75 Championship matches.
But in those games he has not scored enough, nor impressed sufficiently to suggest he is a player capable of finding the goals to keep City in the Premier League. Does he really add a tonne to a forward line that features Haji Wright, Ellis Simms and potentially Brandon Thomas-Asante?
Scoring goals is going to be a key concern for Frank Lampard and while they’ll need to come from all over the pitch, if there is a keynote transfer to be completed it will surely come up front.
They have been linked with the likes of Juventus’ Lois Openda and other strikers with a more proven track record in top divisions.
