Last summer, the 49ers moved quickly to strengthen Leeds United’s attacking options by bringing in two new strikers. Before Dominic Calvert-Lewin arrived at Elland Road, Lukas Nmecha became the club’s first signing of the summer window.
It was evident that Leeds had identified a lack of quality in the final third and were determined to address the issue.

Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph had been the club’s primary attacking options during their Championship-winning campaign. Despite finishing as Leeds’ top scorer, there were still significant doubts over whether Piroe could consistently deliver at Premier League level.
As a result, Leeds acted decisively in the transfer market to add greater competition and quality up front.
However, the arrivals of Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin did little to satisfy some supporters. Many felt the club needed more established names capable of making an immediate impact in the top flight.
The pair ultimately silenced much of that criticism by combining for more than 20 goals across the season, vindicating the club’s recruitment strategy.
Leeds United Interested in Ligue 1 Forward
Although Leeds’ summer additions contributed valuable goals, there were still periods throughout the campaign when the side lacked a clinical edge in attack.
At times, Daniel Farke’s men endured lengthy spells without finding the back of the net, highlighting the need for further reinforcements.
The club have already taken steps to address that concern ahead of next season, reaching an agreement to sign Harry Wilson. The former Fulham winger is expected to add both creativity and goals from deeper areas.
According to Foot Mercato, Leeds are also showing interest in Auxerre forward Lassine Sinayoko. The Mali international registered 12 goals and four assists during the previous campaign.
His playing style shares similarities with both Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha, with the 30-year-old excelling as a physical presence who can hold up the ball effectively and bring teammates into play.
Sinayoko Open to Summer Exit
Sinayoko has entered the final year of his contract with Auxerre and is reportedly open to a move away from the French club this summer.
Speaking to French outlet Ici Bourgogne Franche-Comté last month, the striker suggested that any decision regarding his future would largely be handled by his representatives.
“It’s a period that I enjoy because I like knowing what’s happening, who’s staying and who’s leaving, whether it’s here or at other clubs.
“It’s a transfer window that I really enjoy following. But now, it’s no longer in my hands.
“As for everything that’s being said here and there, unless it comes from me or my representatives, I don’t pay attention to it and I don’t believe it.”
The experienced forward has earned 30 caps for Mali and scored 10 goals for his national team.
