Leeds close in on priority target after improved bid submitted

Things are beginning to fall into place for Leeds United as the summer transfer window gathers pace. The Whites have already agreed a deal for their first signing, with Harry Wilson set to arrive at Elland Road.

Wilson has agreed personal terms and is expected to undergo a medical before completing a long-term move. Leeds have admired the midfielder since last summer and came close to signing him on deadline day. After deciding to leave his London club when his contract expired, the Welsh international is now on the verge of becoming Daniel Farke’s latest addition.

Leeds could move for another free agent

Leeds may not stop there. According to Adam Pope, former Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Julian Brandt is a serious option being considered by the club after becoming available on a free transfer.

While no agreement has been reached, discussions are believed to be ongoing, with Brandt emerging as another potential addition to strengthen Leeds’ midfield options.

Leeds United submit improved bid for transfer target

Away from new arrivals, Leeds have secured the future of reserve goalkeeper Alex Cairns after agreeing a new contract. The experienced shot-stopper was out of contract this summer, but the club value his leadership and influence behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Karl Darlow has rejected interest from Manchester United and could soon commit his future to Leeds with a new deal.

Leeds remain determined to strengthen in midfield, and Southampton’s Shea Charles is still one of their priority targets. The Whites recently saw an opening bid rejected, but the Daily Mail reports they have now returned with an improved offer worth £25 million in an attempt to reach an agreement.

What happens to Leeds’ midfield?

With Harry Wilson set to arrive and Julian Brandt also under consideration, Leeds could potentially add three new midfielders if they complete a deal for Shea Charles.

That level of investment would almost certainly lead to departures before the transfer window closes.

Sean Longstaff has already been linked with an exit after an underwhelming first season at Elland Road, where injuries and inconsistent form prevented him from making a significant impact.

Ao Tanaka could also face an uncertain future after struggling for regular minutes before Ilia Gruev’s injury opened the door for him last season.

Gruev himself remains another player to watch, with just one year left on his current contract, making a summer sale a realistic possibility if Leeds receive a suitable offer.

There are still plenty of moving parts in Leeds’ midfield plans, but one thing appears increasingly clear: arrivals are likely to be matched by departures before the new Premier League season gets underway.
