Leeds United did not have an easy time in the transfer market during their return to the Premier League. Several deals proved difficult to complete, with a number of targets slipping away at the final hurdle.
The most memorable transfer saga came on deadline day, when Leeds missed out on Harry Wilson.

After missing out on several attacking targets late in the window, Leeds made a strong push to sign the Fulham winger. However, the London club pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute, leaving Daniel Farke without a player he had admired for several seasons.
The Whites also targeted striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in January. The 49ers were prepared to spend more than £40 million on the Norwegian, but Wolves instead sold him to Crystal Palace after preferring a different payment structure.
Adam Pope provides key update on Harry Wilson pursuit
This week, reports emerged that Leeds United have agreed a deal to sign Harry Wilson.
The winger has agreed to a long-term contract, with a medical expected to be the final step before the move is completed. While nothing has been officially confirmed, there is growing confidence that the transfer will soon be finalised.
Speaking on BBC Sport, Adam Pope explained that there is still a small chance another club could intervene.
“Harry Wilson has agreed in principle, and it will be done, pending a medical.
“The contract doesn’t end until June 30, so stuff will start moving on July 1, as technically he is under contract at Fulham.
“For all intents and purposes, it’s happening, but we can never absolutely guarantee everything.
“It’s all agreed but Villa, we understand, are interested.
“Who is to say his old boss, Marco Silva at Benfica, still might fancy him.
“Clearly, there is interest in Harry Wilson.”

49ers cannot afford another late twist
It would take a dramatic turn for Leeds to miss out on Harry Wilson at this stage.
The framework of the deal is in place, with a long-term contract agreed and the player set to receive improved terms while remaining in the Premier League. The only steps left are the medical and official paperwork.
However, reported interest from Aston Villa serves as a reminder that nothing is guaranteed until the contract is signed.
The 49ers now have one job: ensure there are no late surprises and get one of Daniel Farke’s top targets through the door.
