Rangers Fans Party as Celtic Crisis Deepens After Old Firm Defeat

BBC Reporter Describes ‘Toxic’ Scenes at Parkhead

Rangers supporters are set to celebrate long into the night after a famous 3–1 Old Firm victory away at Celtic on Saturday — a result that plunged Parkhead into chaos.

BBC Radio Scotland reporter Martin Dowden described the scenes as “full-scale toxic” as Celtic fans turned on both the manager and the board, with police presence required near the dugout.

Rangers Secure Huge Away Win

Rangers’ victory cuts the gap to Hearts to just three points, albeit having played one game more. It was a day to remember for the Light Blues, and one Celtic fans will want to forget.

Youssef Chermiti grabbed two goals, while Tottenham loanee Mikey Moore added a third to seal a dominant performance at Parkhead.

For both sets of supporters, the afternoon will be remembered — but for very different reasons.

Wilfried Nancy Under Serious Pressure

When Wilfried Nancy was appointed Celtic manager, the club appeared to be on an upward trajectory, while Rangers were still adjusting under Danny Rohl.

Fast forward to now, and both sides are level on points, with Celtic’s form sharply declining under the Frenchman.

The unrest inside the stadium intensified after Moore made it 3–1, with loud boos directed at both Nancy and the Celtic board.

Dowden reported via BBC Radio Scotland:

“For Celtic, this has just gone full-scale toxic. The board are getting it in the neck from supporters. Many are streaming out of the stadium.

There’s a police presence now near the dugout, where Wilfried Nancy stands in utter disbelief.

Celtic are in crisis, with Rangers fully seizing on their chance.”

Nancy’s future at Celtic now looks increasingly uncertain.

Chermiti’s Rangers Future Takes a Twist

Interestingly, the result could also mark a turning point for Youssef Chermiti — but in a positive way.

Towards the end of 2025, Rangers were believed to be open to letting the striker leave, just months after his multi-million-pound move to Ibrox. Prior to this match, Chermiti had managed just two goals all season.

However, his brace against Celtic doubled that tally and showcased a battling performance when it mattered most.

While his goals weren’t the prettiest, they were decisive — and may force Rangers to rethink their stance on his future.

A Defining Day for Both Clubs

This Old Firm clash may prove pivotal for both sides:

  • Celtic face a potential managerial decision after another damaging defeat.
  • Rangers leave Parkhead with momentum — and a striker who may have just saved his Ibrox career.

For the Light Blues, it was more than just three points — it was a statement.
