Leeds United have recently been linked with several Wolves players following the club’s confirmed relegation from the Premier League, with Brazil international midfielder Andre among the names mentioned.
Under the 49ers, Leeds’ recruitment strategy has often centred around securing strong value in the transfer market. Whether through favourable contract situations or targeting players who may be undervalued by their current clubs, the Whites have consistently looked for smart deals.
Relegation situations can also create opportunities for clubs like Leeds to sign talented players for fees below their true market value.
Leeds United linked with Wolves midfielder Andre after relegation setback
Wolves’ miserable campaign appeared to hit another low during their heavy 3-0 defeat away to Leeds — the final match before their relegation from the Premier League was officially confirmed. Their display at Elland Road summed up a season filled with disappointment.
Still, despite the club’s struggles, several Wolves players are expected to attract major interest this summer. Midfield duo Joao Gomes and Andre, both highly rated Brazilian internationals, have regularly been tipped for futures beyond Championship football.
According to TEAMtalk, Leeds are among the clubs reportedly interested in Andre and are even said to be prepared to offer around ÂŁ35 million for the 24-year-old midfielder.
Andre is not the only Wolves player linked with a move to Elland Road either. Reports from the Express & Star also suggest Leeds admire centre-back Ladislav Krejci.
Andre unlikely to join Leeds after signing new Wolves contract
Despite the speculation, a move to Leeds now appears highly unlikely.
Wolves have officially confirmed that Andre has signed a new long-term contract at Molineux, extending his stay until 2030.
The new agreement comes as a surprise given the club’s relegation, but it underlines Wolves’ determination to keep hold of key players as they prepare for a push back to the Premier League.
For Leeds, Andre’s new contract effectively ends any realistic hopes of signing him this summer, as Wolves are now in a far stronger position to demand a huge transfer fee for one of their most valuable assets.
