Nottingham Forest Eye £17m Transfer Target as Summer Talks Gather Pace

Nottingham Forest will make tweaks to Vitor Pereira’s squad when the summer transfer window opens

Atalanta wing-back Raoul Bellanova has emerged as a potential transfer target for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds will be able to start tweaking head coach Vitor Pereira’s squad from next Monday (June 15) when the summer window opens. Bringing in a few key additions is the goal amid a focus on keeping the majority of the dressing room together.

According to Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb, Bellanova is on Forest’s radar as they target reinforcements. The 26-year-old is expected to be on the move in the coming weeks and could be headed to the Premier League.

Bellanova joined Atalanta from Torino two years ago, but after an impressive first season at the club struggled for consistency last time around. In 2025/26, he made 24 Serie A appearances but was in the starting XI for only 15 of them and was hampered by injury.

The Italian side are said to be willing to let him leave this summer and value him in the region of €20-15 million (£17-13m). The Reds are “keeping a close eye” on him, as are Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur.

AC Milan have a long-term interest in the Italy international and could provide competition for his signature as they target options for their right flank. Bellanova can operate as a right-back, right wing-back, centre-back or winger.

Such versatility would come in handy for Forest, as part of what is likely to be a relatively small squad. Strengthening at full-back is on the club’s to-do list, while having sufficient options to play with either a three or four-man defence would work well for Pereira.

The Reds being credited with an interest in Bellanova comes as Atalanta continue to cast admiring glances in the direction of Nicolo Savona. The 23-year-old made the switch to the City Ground from Juventus 12 months ago but there is a question mark over his future Trentside.

Atalanta have been mentioned as potential suitors for the full-back for some time. TuttoAtalanta report the club are searching for possible replacements as they anticipate the departure of Marco Palestra.

Savona is said to have “caught the attention” of Atalanta. The suggestion is they are prepared to move quickly as “the market for top full-backs requires early moves”.

Savona made 20 appearances in the Garibaldi before his season was brought to a premature end when he required knee surgery. Although he showed potential for Forest, it remains to be seen whether the club are prepared to cash-in if the opportunity arises.

Meanwhile, Forest reportedly held talks regarding a potential swoop for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado not so long ago. However, it appears there is little chance of any deal being done.

According to TEAMtalk, the Reds are among a number of Premier League sides to have “held conversations” about Casado in recent months. Manchester United, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Everton and Crystal Palace are said to have done the same.

There has been no sign of any of the English clubs following that initial interest up. Instead, a move to Monaco appears to be on the cards as the Ligue 1 outfit are working to complete a deal in excess of £20m for the 22-year-old.
