Régis Le Bris Left Tipping Point Host Baffled With Answer to Football Question

Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris found himself at the centre of an amusing moment after being asked a football-related question during an appearance on ITV quiz show Tipping Point.

The Wearside coach, who guided Sunderland back to the Premier League and has earned widespread praise for his work at the Stadium of Light, went head-to-head with fellow contestant Katherine Ryan during the show’s head-to-head round.

Given his background in football, many expected Le Bris to breeze through a question connected to the sport.

Presenter Ben Shephard asked: “Which country won the European Championships in 2016 and the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017, both for the first time?”

To the surprise of both viewers and the host, Le Bris appeared unsure of the answer.
“I’m not completely certain,” he admitted, before laughing at his own uncertainty. “This is quite embarrassing for a football manager!”

As the pressure mounted, Le Bris worked through several possibilities, ruling out traditional football powerhouses before eventually settling on the wrong answer.
Shephard looked stunned as he revealed the correct response was Portugal, who famously won Euro 2016 after defeating France in the final.

Realising his mistake, Le Bris could only smile and shake his head.
“Of course it was Portugal,” he said. “I should have known that one.”

The clip quickly attracted attention online, with fans amused that a manager so immersed in football could momentarily forget one of the most memorable international tournament winners of the modern era.

One supporter joked: “You can take a manager to a football quiz, but you can’t guarantee he’ll remember Euro 2016!”

Another wrote: “I never expected Régis Le Bris to be caught out by that question.”
A third added: “Even the best football minds have brain freezes sometimes.”

The light-hearted moment provided a rare glimpse of the Sunderland boss away from the touchline, showing that even highly respected managers can occasionally be left scratching their heads when faced with a seemingly straightforward football question.
