Nottingham Forest have officially announced their retained list for the 2026/27 season, confirming the departure of four players as contracts expire at the end of June.
Departing Players:
Willy Boly (Defender) – The experienced centre-back leaves after making 47 appearances since joining from Wolves in 2022. Fans and the club have paid tribute to his leadership and stability in the backline.
Stefan Ortega (Goalkeeper) – The short-term signing from Manchester City departs after limited appearances.
Angus Gunn (Goalkeeper) – The Scottish international goalkeeper will also leave when his contract ends.
Lorenzo Lucca (Striker) – The on-loan forward returns to Napoli at the end of his temporary spell.
The club has thanked all four for their contributions and wished them well for the future. Goalkeeper Matz Sels remains the clear No.1, with John Victor expected to provide backup once fully fit.
Retained Core Squad
Forest have kept the majority of their key players, including stars such as Morgan Gibbs-White, Elliot Anderson, Murillo, Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams, and Chris Wood.
Several younger players and under-24 talents have also been retained or offered new deals.
What This Means for the Summer Window
With European ambitions under Vitor Pereira, this clear-out creates space and focus for incoming reinforcements. Forest are expected to be active in the market, particularly in goalkeeping and defensive areas, while holding firm on prized assets like Anderson (despite interest from Manchester City and others).
This retained list marks the start of a busy summer at the City Ground as Forest aim to build on their strong Premier League campaign.
Will the departures create problems in goal and defence, or is this the perfect chance to strengthen? Drop your thoughts below!
