No Celtic Bid for Dinko Horkas Despite Being ‘Best Placed’ to Sign Him

Celtic have yet to submit an official bid for Croatian goalkeeper Dinko Horkas, despite reports suggesting the Scottish champions are currently the frontrunners in the race for his signature.

The UD Las Palmas goalkeeper has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic in recent days as the club continues its search for a new shot-stopper.

Horkas and Ernst Continue to Dominate Transfer Talk

Transfer speculation has largely centred around two names: Dinko Horkas and Tjark Ernst of Hertha Berlin.

German publication Bild recently claimed Ernst was left out of Hertha’s latest pre-season victory to protect the 23-year-old ahead of a potential transfer. While that claim cannot be fully verified, the timing has certainly fuelled speculation surrounding his future.

Celtic Actively Searching for a Goalkeeper

Former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has confirmed that the club’s recruitment team is actively working to strengthen the goalkeeping department this summer.

The search comes after Kasper Schmeichel’s unfortunate retirement due to a serious shoulder injury, leaving Viljami Sinisalo and Ross Doohan competing for the No. 1 shirt. Celtic are therefore looking to add both quality and competition between the posts.

Summer of Change at Celtic

The five-time reigning Scottish Premiership champions are experiencing a significant squad overhaul this summer. With several changes already taking place, goalkeeper remains one of the key positions the club is aiming to reinforce.

Following confirmation that Celtic are actively monitoring the market, both Ernst and Horkas remain the leading candidates linked with a move to Parkhead.

No Formal Offer for Horkas Yet

According to Spanish outlet Sport.es, Celtic’s interest in Horkas is genuine, but the club has not yet made a formal offer.

The report states that the 27-year-old is valued at between €5 million and €7 million, making him an attainable target should Celtic decide to proceed.

Celtic Still Lead the Race

Despite the absence of an official bid, Sport.es reports that Celtic remain the “best placed” club among several interested sides monitoring Horkas’ situation.

For now, however, the Scottish champions are yet to make their move, with the goalkeeper search continuing as preparations for the new season gather pace.
