England booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals after battling past Norway 2-1 after extra time in a dramatic quarter-final in Miami.
Thomas Tuchel’s side endured another difficult night in scorching conditions but once again found a way to win, thanks to another inspirational display from Jude Bellingham, who scored twice to send England into the last four.
Norway stunned England when Andreas Schjelderup caught Jordan Pickford out with an audacious cross-shot, but Bellingham restored parity just before half-time before grabbing the winner in extra time after reacting quickest to Morgan Rogers’ saved effort.

Jordan Pickford – 5/10
Pickford will be disappointed with Norway’s opener after Schjelderup’s looping delivery crept in over him. While he wasn’t tested too often afterwards, it remains a goal he’ll feel he should have prevented.
Ezri Konsa – 5/10
Tasked with filling in at right-back, Konsa couldn’t prevent the cross that led to Norway’s opener. Defensively solid for much of the contest but looked more comfortable when England had possession.
John Stones – 7/10
Back in the starting XI after recovering from injury, Stones produced an assured display. His positioning and composure helped keep Norway’s dangerous attack under control after the break.
Marc Guehi – 8/10
Faced a difficult battle against Erling Haaland but grew stronger as the match progressed. Produced several crucial interceptions and an outstanding block during extra time.
Nico O’Reilly – 7/10
Another mature performance from the youngster. Comfortable on the ball, disciplined defensively and intelligent with his movement inside from left-back.
Declan Rice – 5/10
Clearly not at full fitness after illness. Struggled to influence the midfield battle before being substituted at half-time.
Elliot Anderson – 8/10
One of England’s best performers. Worked tirelessly in midfield, linked play well and helped England control the second half. Also won the foul that resulted in Norway’s disallowed goal.
Noni Madueke – 5/10
A frustrating evening for the Chelsea winger. Failed to make an impact in attack and was replaced at the interval.
Jude Bellingham – 10/10 ⭐
Simply sensational.
His equaliser on the stroke of half-time completely changed the momentum before he produced the winning goal in extra time with the instincts of a world-class midfielder.
Once again, Bellingham stepped up when England needed him most and continues to look like the standout player of this World Cup.

Quiet for long spells but produced a brilliant assist for Bellingham’s first goal. His pace continued to trouble Norway throughout.
Harry Kane – 6/10
Didn’t find the scoresheet but worked hard for the team. Felt he was fouled in the build-up to Norway’s opener, though officials waved away England’s appeals. Not his sharpest performance but still contributed with his hold-up play.

Added energy after replacing Rice and nearly scored late on with a well-struck effort.
Bukayo Saka – 6/10
Introduced in the second half and immediately offered greater width and direct running than England had shown before the break.
Reece James – 6/10
A welcome return after injury. Defended well during his cameo and will hope for a starting place in the semi-final.
Djed Spence – 9/10
Outstanding after coming off the bench.
Provided constant energy down the flank, caused Norway plenty of problems and was unlucky not to win a penalty. Another impressive display from the Tottenham defender.
Morgan Rogers – 7/10
His powerful strike forced the save that Bellingham converted for the winner. Made an immediate impact after entering the game.
Dan Burn – 7/10
Brought on to help England see out the game and did exactly that with another commanding defensive performance.
