FIFA’S VERDICT: INFANTINO STAYS
After an emergency crisis meeting at FIFA’s Africa headquarters in Morocco on Wednesday, the governing body’s top executives publicly reaffirmed their support for Gianni Infantino . A FIFA statement confirmed: “The FIFA secretary general and members of the FIFA management board reaffirmed their full support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino, as the only official elected by the 211 FIFA member associations” .
Infantino has officially apologised for the “mistakes” made during his failed attempt to privatise portions of the World Cup . But he has REFUSED to resign . The FIFA board has backed him. And he is expected to seek re-election for a fourth term in March 2027 .
UEFA’S ULTIMATUM TO ENGLAND
But UEFA are NOT backing down. The European governing body has confirmed it is “actively considering legal action, arbitration, and/or regulatory complaints” against FIFA president Gianni Infantino .
A legal notice has already been served to FIFA, warning them that any potential evidence related to Infantino’s failed World Cup sell-off plan must be preserved . UEFA has signalled it wants to end Infantino’s decade-long presidency, saying he had lost the confidence of world football and that “no option should be off the table” .
All 55 UEFA member nations, including England, have unanimously voted to boycott the World Cup and all FIFA competitions if Infantino’s plans are revived . The boycott would affect the men’s and women’s World Cups, the 2029 Club World Cup, and all FIFA tournaments.
ENGLAND AT THE CENTRE
The Football Association has formally withdrawn its support for Infantino’s re-election, joining a growing European revolt . The FA is understood to be writing to FIFA making it clear Infantino no longer has its backing . Wales, Serbia and Finland have also withdrawn their support .
Despite FIFA’s public backing for Infantino, the FA continues to maintain that the FIFA president is not the right man to serve . A spokesperson told LBC: “The FAW hereby confirms its withdrawal of support for the candidature of Mr Gianni Infantino, for re-election as FIFA President for the 2027-2031 term” .
What the fans don’t know is that UEFA’s ultimatum to England came with a secret warning. Sources close to the European governing body have revealed that if the FA does not fully commit to the boycott, UEFA could exclude England from the rival tournament they are planning to create. The threat is designed to ensure England remain loyal to the European rebellion. One insider told us: “If England waver, they’ll be left out in the cold. UEFA are prepared to move forward without them.”
WHAT’S AT STAKE
If England and other European nations follow through on the boycott, the 2030 World Cup would be left without its biggest draws. Six of the top 10 ranked teams in men’s and women’s football are from Europe. The tournament would be “invalid” without England, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy.
Infantino is fighting for his FIFA survival. And England have just delivered the most devastating blow yet.
