Morocco Create Annual National Football Teams Day After Historic Win Over Scotland
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has officially announced the creation of National Football Teams Day, an annual celebration that will be observed every July 15, honoring one of the Atlas Lions’ most memorable victories at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The decision comes in recognition of Morocco’s historic 1-0 victory over Scotland during the group stage of the tournament, a result that helped propel the Atlas Lions into the knockout rounds before their remarkable World Cup journey eventually came to an end.
The announcement was confirmed following a meeting of the FRMF’s executive committee, with the federation explaining that the annual celebration is intended to commemorate the national team’s resilience, determination, and the unforgettable moments it produced during the 2026 World Cup.
In an official statement, the FRMF said:
