Just hours after Nottingham Forest confirmed the £34 million signing of Ousmane Diomande, Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd stunned the studio panel with a fiercely critical assessment of new manager Oliver Glasner.
Speaking live on a transfer special, the former Rangers and Scotland striker did not hold back.
“I’m not convinced by this at all,” Boyd said. “Everyone is getting excited about Diomande, but signing one centre-back doesn’t suddenly make Glasner the right man for the job. Forest have been through enough managers. This feels like another short-term gamble.”
Boyd continued:
“Glasner talks a good game about intensity and structure, but we’ve seen this before. He comes in, spends big money, and then the same problems reappear. Diomande is a good player, no question, but one signing doesn’t fix a squad that still looks short in key areas.”
The panel was left visibly surprised by the force of Boyd’s comments as he pressed on:
“People are already calling this a statement of intent. I call it papering over the cracks. If results don’t come quickly, the pressure will be on Glasner just like the managers before him. Forest fans should be careful about getting carried away.”
Boyd’s explosive verdict has already sparked heated debate among supporters, with many questioning whether the Austrian is the long-term solution the club needs despite the arrival of Diomande.
