Rangers have moved quickly to strengthen their squad after confirming the arrival of James Penrice, with Derek McInnes bringing the left-back back to Ibrox on an initial loan deal from AEK Athens that includes an option to buy.
The move comes at an important moment for the Gers, who were left short of options at left-back after Tuur Rommens suffered an injury that could keep him out for up to eight weeks.
With the new season already underway, McInnes was forced to act quickly — and Penrice has now become Rangers’ tenth signing of the summer.

The 27-year-old was brought in after Rangers identified the left-back position as an area that needed immediate attention.
During the disappointing Europa League exit against Jagiellonia Bialystok, Rangers were forced into a makeshift solution, switching to a back three and using right-sided Ross McCrorie in an unfamiliar role.
Penrice’s arrival gives McInnes a natural option on the left and could see the defender thrown straight into action.
He is reportedly in contention to make his Rangers debut against St Mirren in the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday.
