Leeds United are already laying the groundwork for the 2026/27 season after securing a respectable 14th-place finish in their first campaign back in the Premier League.
The club have begun work on strengthening the squad, with a focus on recruiting players capable of making a real impact and helping Leeds build on last season’s progress.
Leeds have already tied club captain Ethan Ampadu down to a new contract, while manager Daniel Farke is also expected to sign an extension in the coming weeks.
However, changes are not limited to the playing and coaching staff. The club are also set for significant adjustments behind the scenes, with the departure of a long-serving member of staff already confirmed.
Leeds United confirm departure of Head of Sports Science
Tim Robinson, Leeds United’s Head of Sports Science, has officially bid farewell to the club after an impressive 15-year journey at Elland Road.
Robinson initially joined Leeds as an intern and steadily worked his way through the ranks before eventually taking charge of the club’s sports science department.
During his time at Elland Road, he witnessed some of the club’s most challenging periods but also played a role in two promotion-winning campaigns. He worked under several managers throughout his tenure, though he admits that his experiences under Marcelo Bielsa and Daniel Farke stand above the rest.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Robinson said:
“The two standouts are obviously Daniel Farke – these last three years have been incredible, both professionally and just getting to know him – and then obviously Marcelo [Bielsa], with what a unique experience that was.
“The common theme is the success they achieved, the style of football they played, and the memories they created for the staff and supporters alike.
“To look back and say I’ve been part of those historic teams and historic moments is something I’m extremely proud of.”
Leeds aiming for further progress
Farke has already made it clear that standing still will not be enough next season, stressing the need for greater ambition as Leeds continue their development.
Robinson’s departure underlines the club’s willingness to evolve both on and off the pitch. A new Head of Sports Science will now be appointed as Leeds look to strengthen every area of the organisation ahead of the new campaign.
The club’s ownership group, the 49ers Enterprises, have already begun plans to expand Elland Road, highlighting their commitment to Leeds’ long-term growth and ambitions.
With recruitment underway, infrastructure projects progressing, and changes taking place behind the scenes, Leeds are positioning themselves for another significant step forward in the years ahead.
