Daniel Farke turns up pressure on Leeds chiefs to deliver major transfer deal

DANIEL FARKE IDENTIFIES KEY LEEDS UNITED WEAKNESS AHEAD OF JANUARY TRANSFER WINDOW

Leeds United have made a solid start to the Premier League season, with their summer recruitment playing a significant role in their encouraging performances.

The Whites signed seven new players during the summer transfer window, and the likes of James Trafford, Tarik Muharemovic and Nico Elvedi have been instrumental in strengthening the squad.

Daniel Farke is already planning for the future, with the Leeds United manager keen to address weaknesses in his squad that could hinder the club’s progress if left unresolved.

With the January transfer window approaching, Farke reportedly has a specific demand for the club’s hierarchy as he looks to strengthen his attacking options.

Daniel Farke Has Identified a Key Problem Area

Heading into the summer transfer window, many expected Leeds United to sign a new striker, particularly after Joel Piroe was sent out on loan.

However, the club ultimately decided against bringing in another forward, instead placing their faith in Dominic Calvert-Lewin to remain fit and deliver the goals required to help the team compete in the Premier League.

According to Football Insider, Farke is keen to strengthen his attacking options in 2027, with signing a striker emerging as a priority for the upcoming transfer windows.

Calvert-Lewin remains Leeds’ main recognised centre-forward, while Lukas Nmecha’s future at Elland Road is also uncertain, with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season.

The Leeds manager is therefore keen to improve his options up front over the next nine months, with a new striker potentially arriving in either of the next two transfer windows.

Farke is reportedly pushing the club’s hierarchy to explore realistic options and recruit a forward capable of providing genuine competition for Calvert-Lewin.

Leeds United Cannot Afford to Ignore Their Striker Problem

Leeds United should seriously consider signing another striker over the next two transfer windows if they want to build a squad capable of establishing itself in the Premier League.

Calvert-Lewin brings valuable experience, physical strength and a strong presence in the penalty area. However, relying too heavily on one recognised centre-forward is a significant risk over the course of a demanding season.

Injuries, inconsistent performances and fixture congestion can quickly expose a lack of depth in attack, leaving a team struggling to find goals when they need them most.

Leeds also need greater variety in their attacking options. Bringing in a striker with different qualities would give Farke more tactical flexibility, allowing him to change his approach against stubborn defences or introduce a fresh attacking threat from the bench.

The club does not necessarily need to rush into an expensive January deal. Instead, the recruitment team should carefully assess the available options and identify a forward who can make an immediate contribution while offering long-term value.

However, leaving the squad short of reliable goalscoring options for another season would be a gamble Leeds United should avoid.

If the Whites are serious about progressing in the Premier League, strengthening their attack must be one of their priorities. Finding the right striker could prove crucial to their ambitions, and Farke will want the club’s hierarchy to act before this weakness becomes a bigger problem.
