Leeds United handed major transfer boost in pursuit of Barcelona attacker

Leeds United fans complained about the club’s attacking options throughout last season. The squad lacked quality and depth in the final third, with supporters believing reinforcements were needed long before promotion.

During their final Championship campaign, Leeds possessed one of the most dangerous attacks in the division.

The front four of Manor Solomon, Dan James, Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronson tore through the Championship, helping Leeds score more than 90 league goals in an outstanding campaign under Daniel Farke.

However, the following summer transfer window proved disappointing. Solomon returned to his parent club, while Leeds also allowed Largie Ramazani and Mateo Joseph to leave despite both contributing during the promotion season.

As a result, Leeds now have a clear lack of quality and depth in the wide attacking areas.

Leeds United could land Barcelona attacker this summer

Noah Okafor emerged as one of the positives for Leeds last season despite making a slow start. It took time for the Swiss international to adapt to English football, but Daniel Farke’s coaching paid off as Okafor finished the campaign in excellent form, scoring four goals in his final four matches.

Now, the 49ers are reportedly looking to strengthen the attack again.

Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji has been on Leeds’ radar since last year, and Mundo Deportivo reports that his situation has changed.

The La Liga champions are expected to move several players on this summer, with Bardghji among those likely to leave. According to the report, there are currently no concrete offers for the winger, making a loan move the most realistic option.

Leeds need more quality in attack

Outside a handful of players, Leeds struggled badly in attack last season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor carried much of the goalscoring responsibility, while the wide players failed to provide enough consistent support. Dan James spent much of the season battling injuries and fitness issues, while Wilfried Gnonto fell out of favour under Farke.

Although signing Bardghji on loan may not be straightforward, Leeds should make every effort to secure the deal.

The young winger wants regular first-team football and showed plenty of promise despite mainly being used as a squad player last season. A loan move would represent a low-risk signing with significant potential upside for Leeds United.
