🚨 “Perfect Fit” – Leeds United tipped to land £25m Europa League winner in ambitious summer move

Leeds United are continuing to be linked with several names ahead of what could be a huge summer transfer window at Elland Road.

With Premier League survival already secured, the 49ers now know the level of player they can realistically target. Top-flight football remains a major attraction, and Daniel Farke appears determined to build on the progress made this season with an ambitious recruitment drive.

That ambition also seems to be shared by Leeds director Peter Lowy, as the club begin exploring potential high-profile additions.

One player now being tipped as a perfect fit for Leeds is Harvey Elliott. The 23-year-old spent last season on loan at Aston Villa from Liverpool, but despite Villa’s Europa League success after defeating Freiburg in Wednesday’s final, Elliott struggled badly for game time under Unai Emery.

Villa reportedly had an obligation to buy the midfielder for £35 million if certain appearance targets were met. However, after giving him just 117 minutes of Premier League action all season, the club are now believed to be reconsidering the deal.

As a result, Elliott is expected to return to Liverpool this summer — although the Reds are reportedly open to selling him permanently.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes Leeds could offer the ideal opportunity for the England youngster to revive his career.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown said:

“Leeds want to be ambitious in the market, and Harvey Elliott would definitely improve them. He’s a very talented player who adds something different to their squad.

“The main question is where his best role is — whether that’s centrally or out wide. But wherever he goes, he needs guarantees that he’ll play regularly.

“If Leeds can offer him that, Elland Road could be the perfect place for him to rebuild his confidence after a frustrating spell at Aston Villa.”

Elliott’s versatility could make him an excellent fit in Farke’s system. He is capable of operating as a number 10, in a midfield three, or drifting in from the right — similar to the role Brenden Aaronson has played this season.

His experience under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool would also suit the intensity and work ethic Farke expects from his players.

Because of his limited involvement this season, Liverpool are unlikely to receive the £35 million they initially expected. Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson believes a deal worth around £25 million is now far more realistic.

“He’s still only 23, so clubs will see value there,” Borson explained.

“£25 million feels achievable. He was only valued at £35 million before, so there will definitely be teams willing to take that gamble.

“A promoted side or a lower-table Premier League club could see him as a smart signing. But overall, the situation at Villa has been disappointing.”

With Elliott potentially available at a reduced price and his skill set appearing well suited to Leeds’ style, the 49ers are expected to monitor the situation closely throughout the summer.
