Very little came easily for the Whites in the Premier League. They had to battle for every point, with positive results often proving difficult to secure. Despite those challenges, Leeds still managed to avoid relegation.
A 14th-place finish should provide supporters with encouragement ahead of the new season, although the task will only become more difficult from here.
The second season in the top flight is often a major hurdle for newly promoted clubs. Those who successfully navigate it usually go on to establish themselves as consistent Premier League teams.
Leeds may need to strengthen in goal, with Karl Darlow’s future still uncertain heading into the summer. Lucas Perri could soon be the only senior goalkeeper under contract at Elland Road.
Midfield is another area that could benefit from reinforcements after the side struggled for creativity at times last season. The attack also requires greater depth if Farke is to improve the team’s prospects next year.
Leeds United miss out on key defensive target
Centre-back is one position where many expect changes this summer.
Pascal Struijk has yet to agree a new contract and is now entering the final 12 months of his current deal. Leeds turned down a substantial offer for the defender last year, but interest in his services has continued to grow.
One potential replacement can now be crossed off the shortlist following an update from Fabrizio Romano.
Tromso defender Abubakar Sidi Kinteh has agreed to join Al-Ahli, with personal terms finalised and a medical now scheduled.
Journalist Rudy Galetti recently reported that Leeds were monitoring the highly-rated young centre-back.

Who else are Leeds targeting?
The Whites continue to assess alternative defensive options, with Sporting CP star Ousmane Diomande emerging as a leading target.
The Ivorian defender has attracted interest from clubs across Europe, although his valuation could prove a major obstacle. Reports suggest Leeds are prepared to make a club-record offer to secure his signature.
South Korean defender Lee Han-Beom also remains on the radar of the 49ers ownership group. The club have tracked him for some time, and his performances at the World Cup reportedly strengthened their interest.
Meanwhile, Diogo Leite of Union Berlin is expected to become available on a free transfer soon, making him another attractive option for Leeds as they reshape their defence.
