Gary Lineker Makes Bold Claim About Leeds United Target

Leeds United have stepped up their search for new signings this week, with work already underway on several transfer targets. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the Whites are now on the verge of securing their first addition of the summer.

Wales international Harry Wilson has agreed terms with the club ahead of a move to Elland Road.

A medical has been scheduled for Wilson after Leeds won the race for his signature. The report states that the midfielder will sign a long-term contract on a lucrative salary package, arriving as a free agent following the expiration of his Fulham deal.

After securing Wilson, Leeds are reportedly exploring another free-agent opportunity in the form of Julian Brandt.

The attacking midfielder recently ended his lengthy spell with Borussia Dortmund and is expected to attract interest from several clubs. However, the 49ers ownership group are once again hoping to pull off a surprise and bring another high-quality player to West Yorkshire.

Gary Lineker Praises Leeds United Target

Leeds have also been monitoring a number of players during the Club World Cup.

Among the names linked with the Whites are Ayase Ueda and Zion Suzuki. More recently, the Daily Mail reported that Leeds have shown interest in Bosnia youngster Kerim Alajbegovic.

The teenage attacker grabbed headlines this week after scoring a sensational goal at the tournament.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker was full of praise for the 18-year-old.

“I don’t know whether you saw the goal from Alajbegovic.

Absolutely stunning. I think he’s an 18-year-old. Plays for RB Salzburg, actually, and definitely one to watch. I mean, he beat two men, and then he smashed it in the top corner. Stunning goal, Micah.”

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Leeds have already made contact with the player’s representatives regarding a potential summer move.

Daniel Farke Needs More Options Out Wide

If Alajbegovic is genuinely attainable, Leeds should do everything possible to bring him to the club.

The Whites lacked consistent quality in wide areas last season. Dan James struggled with injuries throughout the campaign, while Wilfried Gnonto failed to make a significant impact.

As a result, Leeds were often short of attacking threat from the flanks.

Outside of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor was arguably the club’s most reliable source of goals, highlighting the need for additional firepower in forward positions.

If Leeds are to build on last season and push further up the Premier League table, strengthening the attack must be a priority.

Based on what he has shown over the past year, Alajbegovic appears to fit that profile perfectly. Blessed with explosive pace and a natural eye for goal, the Bosnia youngster has all the attributes to thrive in Daniel Farke’s system.

Leeds now face the challenge of turning their interest into a deal.
