Leeds United Set Weekend Deadline to Complete Harry Wilson Signing
Harry Wilson has agreed personal terms with Leeds United and is expected to join the club on a free transfer once his contract with Fulham expires at the end of the month.
The Whites are now preparing to schedule his medical as they move closer to completing one of their key summer targets. Wilson has been on Leeds’ radar for some time, and the club are now edging towards securing his signature.
A lucrative long-term contract is understood to have played a significant role in convincing the Welsh international, while the strong Welsh contingent already at Elland Road also helped make the move an attractive proposition.
However, the deal is not yet fully completed. Wilson has yet to formally sign his contract, and Aston Villa remain interested as they attempt to lure him to Villa Park instead.
Leeds Want Harry Wilson Deal Wrapped Up Before the Weekend
Despite Wilson reaching an agreement with Leeds and his representatives, Aston Villa continue to explore the possibility of a late hijack.
The Midlands club believe the prospect of Champions League football could still influence the winger’s decision. Leeds, though, are pushing hard to eliminate any uncertainty surrounding the transfer.
According to TeamTalk, Leeds are aiming to finalise Wilson’s signing before the weekend.
The 28-year-old is still awaiting a medical, but the club expect him to travel to Yorkshire shortly to complete the remaining formalities.
Leeds are determined not to leave the door open for any rival approaches and are working to conclude the transfer within the next few days.
Wilson has been a target since last summer and is expected to sign a three-year contract on wages similar to those offered to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
With the finish line in sight, Leeds have no intention of allowing another club to snatch the deal away.
What’s Next for Leeds United?
Leeds continue to work on several transfer targets as they look to strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad ahead of pre-season.
The club remain in discussions with Borussia Dortmund playmaker and are attempting to convince him to make the move to Elland Road despite interest from clubs competing in the Champions League.
Farke is believed to be a strong admirer of the German international and would welcome the opportunity to add his experience and quality to the squad, even with Wilson’s arrival nearing completion.
Leeds are also in talks with over a potential deal for as they seek to strengthen their midfield options this summer.
