Most Celtic supporters expected this year’s AGM to be tense. But very few fans expected the situation to reportedly become as chaotic as it eventually did.
What was originally supposed to be a major discussion about the club’s direction, future plans and supporter concerns quickly turned into one of the most talked-about Celtic meetings in recent memory.
As frustrations inside the room reportedly continued growing, several heated exchanges between supporters and club officials began spreading across social media almost immediately.
Some fans accused the board of showing “zero ambition” and failing to properly back the team despite Celtic’s domestic success. Others demanded clearer answers regarding recruitment, spending and the club’s long-term direction.
The atmosphere reportedly became even more uncomfortable after angry reactions from sections of supporters inside the meeting forced security and officials to step in multiple times.
Several reports claimed that tensions escalated so badly that some attendees eventually walked out, while others had to be escorted away as arguments continued building.
Online reactions from Celtic supporters quickly exploded afterwards.
Some fans defended the protests and argued supporters have every right to demand more ambition from the club, especially with expectations continuing to grow around Europe and future competition.
Others, however, felt the situation became too aggressive and risked damaging the image of the club during an already emotional period.
Still, one thing became very obvious after the AGM — the divide between sections of the Celtic support and the hierarchy may now be bigger than many supporters originally realised.
The reaction online also showed just how emotionally invested fans remain in the future of the club despite another successful domestic season.
For many supporters, winning trophies alone is no longer enough. Fans want progress, ambition, stronger European performances and clear signs that Celtic are still moving forward at the highest level possible.
That is exactly why emotions reportedly exploded so quickly once frustrations inside the AGM started growing.
And now, even days later, supporters are still debating whether the dramatic scenes were fully justified — or whether the situation should never have reached that point at all.
