Leeds United will be eager to strengthen their first-team squad this summer, with the recruitment department tasked with identifying players who suit both the demands of the Premier League and Daniel Farke’s system.
Last summer’s arrivals made an immediate impact at Elland Road, as Anton Stach, Gabriel Gudmundsson, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all established themselves as regular starters from the outset.
Heading into next season, enhancing the team’s attacking options remains a key priority. Farke has already hinted at the need for improvement, particularly when discussing his future during the closing stages of the campaign.
Although reports suggest Leeds are still finalising their shortlist of transfer targets, the window has yet to officially open. Given the success of last year’s recruitment, supporters can take confidence in the club’s approach.
Leeds United monitoring World Cup defender
Those at Elland Road understand the influence the World Cup can have on the transfer market. Clubs often delay negotiations involving players at the tournament, hoping strong performances increase their market value. As a result, much of the serious business is expected to take place next month.
The competition also provides a stage for emerging talents to impress. According to TEAMtalk, South Korea defender Lee Han-Beom delivered an outstanding display in his country’s opening match against the Czech Republic.
The 23-year-old centre-back has already attracted interest over the past season, and his World Cup performances could further raise his profile. The report claims Leeds are among four Premier League clubs exploring a move for the highly-rated defender.
Pascal Struijk’s future remains uncertain
Leeds have also been linked with a move for Ousmane Diomande this summer. Reports indicate the Ivorian defender is high on the club’s wishlist, with Portuguese media suggesting the Whites could submit a significant offer.
Farke is believed to be determined to reinforce his squad, particularly in defence, and a pursuit of Diomande would underline the 49ers’ ambition.
Meanwhile, Pascal Struijk has entered the final year of his current contract and is attracting attention from several Premier League sides. Leeds turned down an offer for the Dutch defender before the start of last season, but renewed interest could emerge this summer.
Should Struijk decide against signing an extension, the Whites may have little choice but to cash in rather than risk losing him for nothing when his contract expires.
