Wolves Eye Jordan Holsgrove as Walsall Close In on Reece Smith
Wolves have reportedly made an enquiry for Estoril midfielder Jordan Holsgrove as they continue to assess options in the transfer market.
According to Record, the Championship club are interested in the 26-year-old, who is valued at around €3 million. Holsgrove, a product of Reading’s academy, is also attracting attention from Charlton Athletic and Bundesliga clubs Werder Bremen, Augsburg, and Hamburg. Werder Bremen are believed to remain in active discussions over a potential deal.
Holsgrove featured 35 times for Estoril last season, scoring once. His career has included spells with Celta Vigo, Paços de Ferreira, and Olympiacos, and he previously worked under Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto during their time together at Paços in the 2022/23 campaign.
Elsewhere, journalist Pete O’Rourke reports that Harrogate Town winger Reece Smith is undergoing a medical with Walsall ahead of a proposed move to the Bescot Stadium.
Smith was absent from Harrogate’s recent pre-season friendlies against South Shields and Doncaster Rovers, with manager Simon Weaver attributing the absence to injury. The 24-year-old joined Harrogate in the summer of 2025 following a successful six-year spell at Maidenhead United, where he recorded 23 goals and 17 assists in 162 appearances.
Despite Harrogate’s relegation last season, Smith remained a key figure, making 52 appearances while contributing three goals and seven assists. His move to Walsall now appears to be nearing completion.
